Identifying Gog and Magog

To better understand the prophecies of Ezekiel, it's important to read the entire book, to understand who the players are and the time line.

The Players - Gog, Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, Cush, and Put

"Gog" is called "chief prince" of "Meshech and Tubal", Eze 38:2. Almost all the names mentioned as players in the prophecy of Ezekiel have OT roots, as a person. In 1 Chronicles, we learn "Gog" was son of Shemaiah, son of Joel, of the tribe of Rueben. Rueben was the firstborn of Israel, he defiled his father's bed, and his birthright was given to Joseph, 1Ch 5:1-2.

"Magog", "Meshech", and "Tubal" were sons of Japheth, the son of Noah. Japheth's brother Ham seen his father Noah's nakedness, and God cursed Cannan, the son of Ham, Gen 9:25. "Cush" and "Put" (Phut), were the sons of Ham. "Gomer" was the firstborn son of Japheth, brother of Magog, Meshech, and Tubal. Gen 10:1-2.

Gen 10:5 reveals that from these sons of Noah; Magog, Meshech, and Tubal, that the Gentiles would spread.

It is interesting that "Gomer" was also the name of the adulterous wife of the prophet Hosea. The relationship between Hosea and Gomer has a direct parallel to the relationship between God and Israel. Even though Gomer runs away from Hosea and sleeps with another man, he loves her anyway and forgives her. Even though the people of Israel worshiped other gods, God loved them anyway and took them back.

Some include a "Rosh" as a player, a name you will not see in the KJV, simply translated as "chief" in the KJV, Eze 38:2, as in "the chief prince". Some translations say "the prince of Rosh". Some claim the word "rosh", translated "chief" in the KJV means "Russia". Well, they do kind of sound alike, (chuckle), but there is no foundation for this assumption as you can see. KJV+ Strong's numbers:

Eze 38:2 Son1121 of man,120 set7760 thy face6440 against413 Gog,1463 the land776 of Magog,4031 the chief7218 prince5387 of Meshech4902 and Tubal,8422 and prophesy5012 against5921 him,

The KJV + Strong's reveals "rosh" to mean:

H7218
ראשׁ
rô'sh
roshe
From an unused root apparently meaning to shake; the head (as most easily shaken), whether literally or figuratively (in many applications, of place, time, rank, etc.): - band, beginning, captain, chapiter, chief (-est place, man, things), company, end, X every [man], excellent, first, forefront, ([be-]) head, height, (on) high (-est part, [priest]), X lead, X poor, principal, ruler, sum, top.

And as used with the word for "prince", would literally mean "the head king", "chief leader", a "chief prince" who can really "shake" things up:

H5387
נשׂא נשׂיא
nâśîy' nâśi'
naw-see', naw-see'
From H5375; properly an exalted one, that is, a king or sheik; also a rising mist: - captain, chief, cloud, governor, prince, ruler, vapour.

Gog comes with "Many peoples with you", Eze 38:22, "As the sand of the sea", Rev 20:8, that is to say all the people under the rule of Gog. This will sum it up; "Gog" represents the chief leader of a people. "Magog" represents the princes of Gog, the lands and allies and people who follow Gog.

To better understand the mention of "Gog and Magog" in Ezekiel 38 & 39, a full reading of Ezekiel is essential. The immediate context of the book is this; chapters 1-3 God speaks of the house of Israel as exceedingly rebellious. Chapter 4, Jerusalem would be seiged. 5-6, the desolation of Jerusalem for their transgressions. Chapter 7 speaks more of the desolation of the land of Israel for their transgressions. 8-9, Ezekiel is shown the various abominations throughout the house of Israel. 10-11, the rebellious house revealed again, and the city is seen as a cauldron, and dead men the meat, their food. And in chapter 12, The house of Israel says the vision of Ezekiel is many days off, but God said it was not. 13, False prophets in Israel were speaking lies.

Chapter 14, speaks of the complete desolation of Israel, unlike Sodom, even if only 3 righteous men are found there, Noah, Daniel, and Job even, only they would escape because of their own righteousness, the rest would not be saved because of them. 15, complete desolation of the land for their trespasses, though a remnant be saved to tell the story.

Chapter 16, The reason God had chose to speak to Jerusalem was made clear "Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations"... Because of her abominations. God tells the story of how he had pity on them, he seen Israel naked in the wilderness and had pity. He clothed them and washed them...But...They became proud of their looks and made idols of their riches. God said she, Jerusalem, had played the harlot.

You get it. God was angry at his people for their many transgressions. Chapters 17 -22 are about the promise of God to bring them back to their land after the sword had chased them away. Chapter 22 was the key for me in understanding the identity of Gog and Magog, as I seen; "princes who are quick to shed blood", I realized that to say "chief prince" is to say such a one is the worst one of them all.

In Chapter 23, God said Jerusalem had walked in the way of her sister, Samaria, called "Aholah", and the cup of abominations was taken from her sister and was given to her, Jerusalem, called "Aholibah". The next several chapters, 24-32, God warns the many nations round about her not to spoil Jerusalem after the cleansing, out of pure hate, for no reason. He had a good reason to cleanse the land, but for the nations all around her to come running and looting would make God very angry, and they would suffer for it.

And just as God had said, The city was smitten, in Ezekiel's time...

Eze 33:21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.

Why?

Eze 33:29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.

It was the Babylonians who seiged Jerusalem, and the looters came, even Egypt, so God sent the king of Babylon against Egypt, just as he said he would do to any nations who would.

"In the 37th year of Nebuchadrezzar, king of the country of Babylon, he went to Mitzraim (Egypt) to make war. Amasis , king of Egypt, collected his army, and marched and spread abroad. In the ensuing Battle of Carchemish in 605 BC, the Egyptian army was defeated and driven back, and Syria and Phoenicia were brought under the sway of Babylon." (Wiki)

Chapters 33-37 - In Ezekiel 34 God condemned the "shepherds" of his people for their negligence to duty which had caused such suffering to His flock. God speaks more of the siege, more warnings to looters; not for Israel's sake, but for his names sake, and with a promise of a true shepherd to watch over them.

Chapter 38, The first mention of "Gog" and "Magog" ...

Eze 38:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armor, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

God used the phrase "put hooks into thy jaws" while speaking to "Gog", and I find this interesting God used the same exact phrase "put hooks into thy jaws" earlier in ch. 29:4 as he was prophesying to Pharaoh king of Egypt...

Eze 29:3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.
Eze 29:4 But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales.

Therefore, in this immediate context, this first iteration, "Gog" represented Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and all the people with him, "Magog". But then again, there is a long range in application that must be considered. See below.

Further consideration...

Eze 38:16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

God had said this before, "when I am sanctified in you in their eyes." Israel, profaned among the nations, now those nations who profaned her would suffer for it, and the holy name of God is sanctified among the heathen nations round about Israel, eze 36:

Eze 36:23 And I will sanctify My great name which was profaned among the nations, which you profaned among them. And the nations shall know that I am Jehovah, declares the Lord Jehovah, when I am sanctified in you in their eyes.

Eze 38:17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?

Yes, Pharaoh king of Egypt could represent Gog. Gog, bad shepherds of every sort, tyrants, kings, even religious leaders such as the first century Pharisees. Magog, those who follow Gog, those who are full of pride and quick to shed blood, deceived by the lies of the devil. Yes, Magog represents all the wickedness under the rule of Gog, people who are deceived by the lies of the devil, as the sand of the sea.

As God said earlier, chapters 25 & 26, God is once again warning those who would take the spoils of Jerusalem just for the hate of it, to spite Israel, after the cleansing of Israel by God...

Eze 38:18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.

Israel, taken captive into Egypt so long before, freed by God, sent to a new land, becoming full of pride and rebellious, cleansed by God, laughed at by Egypt, looted, then God sets his eye against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, "Gog", and his people, "Magog". The name of God is made known, and thew heathen nations will know to stay out of God's business!

Eze 39:28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.

After the Babylonians seiged Jerusalem and took captive many Jews, Cyrus the great came against Babylon and was victorious, and in 538 BC, Cyrus the great issued the decree to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, and told the Jews they are free to return to their land. Within the reign of Cyrus the great, more than 100,000 Jews returned to their land.

As for the later promise to save Israel from a future invasion, 2 Kings (Written about 561 BC, about 36 years after God spoke to Ezekiel, which was written about 597 BC) records the time when God saved Israel, angels of the Lord killing 185,000 Assyrian troops that did come upon Israel...

2Ki 19:30 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
2Ki 19:31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
2Ki 19:32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
2Ki 19:33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
2Ki 19:34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
2Ki 19:35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

Isaiah 37 is a mirror of 2 Kings 19...

Isa 37:32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
Isa 37:33 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.
Isa 37:34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
Isa 37:35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
Isa 37:36 Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

Sometime during the early part of the Assyrian invasion, Hezekiah met with his military staff concerning the possibility that Jerusalem may fall under siege. The staff immediately oversaw preparations for the Assyrian onslaught. In an effort to deprive the enemy of water, the Jews blocked the springs outside the city. Workers then dug a 533-meter tunnel to the Spring of Gihon, providing the city with fresh water. Additional siege preparations included fortification of the existing walls, construction of towers, and the erection of a new, reinforcing wall. Hezekiah gathered the citizens in the square and encouraged them by reminding them that the Assyrians possessed only "an arm of flesh", but the Jews had the protection of Yahweh.

Sennacherib marched on Jerusalem with a large army. When the Assyrian force arrived, its field commander brought a message from Sennacherib himself. In an attempt to demoralize the Jews, the field commander announced to the people on the city walls that Hezekiah was deceiving them, and Yahweh could not deliver Jerusalem from the king of Assyria. He listed the gods of the people thus far swept away by Sennacherib then asked, "Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me?"

The Old Testament relates how Hezekiah clad himself in sackcloth out of anguish from the psychological warfare that the Assyrians were waging. However, the prophet Isaiah assured Hezekiah that the city would be delivered and Sennacherib would be cut down with the sword. The Old Testament states that during the night, an angel of Yahweh brought death to 185,000 Assyrians troops. When Sennacherib saw the destruction wreaked on his army, he withdrew to Nineveh. Jerusalem was spared destruction.

The Old Testament's account that Jerusalem was victorious rather than defeated, is corroborated by the Greek historian Herodotus, Chaldean historian Berosus, and Jewish historian Josephus.

PART TWO

Speaking tongue in cheek, If you were to dress two children as Gog and Magog for Halloween, the choices of costumes would be many, one could even be a Pharaoh, and the other a Pharisee! But just make sure they carry a sword. (sigh, please don't)

As I have concluded, Gog is not a proper name of any one person, "Gog" represents all chief leaders who are deceived by the lies of the devil, not only those nations God spoke of by name, but bad shepherds of every sort, tyrants, kings, emperors, even religious leaders. Magog represents the people and lands who follow Gog, those who are quick to shed blood.

In Revelation, it is revealed Gog and Magog come against "the beloved city" and "the camp of the saints", and this was to occur after the symbolic thousand years. Also, consider how at the time Gog and Magog are consumed in fire, "The beast", was already in the lake of fire as Satan is cast there.

Rev 20:7 And whenever the thousand years are ended, Satan will be set loose out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 and he will go to mislead the nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to assemble them in war, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
Rev 20:9 And they went up over the breadth of the land and encircled the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. And fire from God came down out of Heaven and burned them down.
Rev 20:10 And the Devil leading them astray was thrown into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet were. And they were tormented day and night to the ages of the ages.

I say symbolic thousand years, because:

Ecc 6:6 Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?
Psa 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

To say a "thousand years" is to say a perfect time with God, as "a thousand years", with God, can be as one day, or a day as a thousand years:

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

It's strange to me how some say the battle of Gog and Magog spoken of in Revelation is upon us now, yet, they do not believe the thousand years has past, or even begun. Those who died have become as priests of God and Christ, and have reigned with Christ for a thousand years, a perfect time, just as Rev 20:4-6 says. It does not say Christ went down to earth and reigned on earth for a thousand years, it says those who died, beheaded for preaching the gospel, "came to life and reigned with him for a thousand years", a perfect time...

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

This mention of Gog and Magog in Revelation is not about "Armageddon". This is not about "the beast". This is not about the siege of Jerusalem, the judgment of his husbandmen, and the religous system of the temple in Jerusalem, as Jesus had spoke of, which came to pass roughly AD 66.5 - 70. This is not about the coming of Christ.

This battle of Gog and his people mentioned in Revelation is not even about the same battle spoken of in Ezekiel. But this Gog and Magog are closely related, they are indeed people and even nations, people deceived by Satan.

How is this possible? It is the function of prophecy. Of most all OT prophecy, there was always a first physical iteration in the OT days, then a second iteration at a later time, like in Jesus' day for example, but the second time is a spiritual fulfillment. It is the way God works. He would ask a prophet to do a physical act, or a spiritual act, and that act would represent the future fulfillment.

This battle of Gog and his people Magog mentioned in Revelation is indeed a spiritual battle, a battle of Satan against Christianity, against the "camp of the saints", and the "holy city". The holy city of God is New Jerusalem, not old Jerusalem. This is a spirit realm.

It is truth VS the lies of the devil this time around. This is a battle in the mind. At this time, the truth is a narrow path, and the lies of the devil are a broad path. There are many deceived, and you see them on TV, you hear them wherever you go seeking truth. But you do not find truth as easily. These deceived teachers of the Bible tell the sheep a wolf is coming and are lying. They put fear and doom in the hearts of many a man, and they offer no hope for a better tomorrow to the children.

You will know them because they do not preach life, they preach death.

The gospel truth is, it is later than they think. New Jerusalem is. In this place truth reigns. They are not in this place. They make war with this place. They do not literally see this place with their eyes, therefore they say this is not here. And that is the method of operation of the devil, to have men take spiritual things as 100% literal, so that when they are not literally seen, they are not believed to be, or to have come to pass.

Such is the depth of the deception, the lies of the devil, and all over the world, even in the Christian Church where they do the most harm, they don't believe the dead are raised because they didn't see anyone literally crawl out of their graves. They don't believe the kingdom of God is, because they did not literally see it come with observation. Nevermind that Jesus said the kingdom of God would not come with observation. They have to see it to believe it exists. They do this at every turn of the page, over and over, having no mind to understand spiritual things, all the while claiming they do.

I would like to make a list of these things someday soon! Meanwhile, see "Seven Questions", and see the depth of their deceptions, and you will see Gog and his people, clear as day.

Meanwhile, back on the farm, they wait for a literal lion to eat literal food with a literal lamb, and many such things they do. For goodness sakes, I tell you, many things are better understood spiritually, not literally! It goes on and on. Like for instance the kingdom of God, the holy city of God, New Jerusalem. New Jerusalem is. It is not anything like the literal old Jerusalem. It is a spiritual realm, the bride of Christ, the general assembly of Christ's Church. It is the kingdom of God that Jesus said would not come with observation.

[Luke 17:20-24] And when he (JESUS) was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

Don't leave yet. Look into this further. Hear a little about the holy city of the living God from the Bible:

The writer of Hebrews said to his fellow first century saints they had come to the heavenly Jerusalem, into the city of the living God, as the general assembly of Christs Church...

Heb 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

There is a building, not made by the hands of men, but the hand of God. This building has a great cornerstone, foundations, pillars, and gates. Jesus is the "chief cornerstone", and the wall has 12 foundations, which are the 12 Apostles, and there are 12 gates, which are the people of the 12 tribes of Israel. This constitutes the holy city of God, a spiritual Kingdom, the kingdom of God. The bride of Christ is the general assembly of His Church, A holy city of God, a holy name written on the people, the general assembly of his Church.

Jesus preached for about 3 1/2 years, then commanded His Apostles to take over, and they were out day and night for about 40 years preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God unto the ends of the earth, to every creature under heaven. So of course, Christ laid the great and strong cornerstone, and the Apostles built upon this rock sure foundations. The household of God truly was built on "the foundation of the apostles", that is to say the Apostles are as foundation stones, and that is exactly what they are called in the book of Revelation, their names being written in the 12 foundation stones.

Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

This is the symbolic structure as presented in the great book of symbols, and again, the Apostles are named as foundations, as their names are written in the twelve foundations...

Rev 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Now this New Jerusalem spoken of in the great book of symbols which is a testimony of Jesus Christ pertaining to things that were before John began to write, things that were as he was writing, and things that were to come, This New Jerusalem was realized and spoken of in metaphor in the first century as being a mother of us all, the bride of Christ, the general assembly of his Church, seeds of the groom and his bride, born again, born of spirit, not of flesh, born into a great promise!...

Gal 4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
Gal 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
Gal 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which engendereth to bondage, which is Hagar.
Gal 4:25 For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
Gal 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

So now that the chief cornerstone has been laid, and the foundations are sure, our duty is to lead folks to the door, that the door may open for them to receive it, that they may enter, that the kingdom of God may dwell with them and within them. Glory to God in the highest, the abode of God is here with us, and the King, He reigns! Yes, right now, and forever, Christ Jesus has built a spiritual building, not made by the hands of men with wood or stone, but with the very hand of God. He is king because he has received his kingdom and he reigns!

Jesus said to His Apostles...

Joh 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Joh 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Joh 14:22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Jesus told his Apostles that because he would live, they would live. The Apostles had heard His words, they had his commandments, but the world at that time did not. And so it is, if a man will hear his words, what was preached to us by His Apostles, The Father and Christ the Lord will then make their abode in you. That would make you an abode of God, a temple of God, just as Christ is the temple, the Apostles, a holy tabernacle unto God, the people are as pillars in the New Jerusalem.

John was instructed to write:

Rev 3:12 The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.

Come!

Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.

Hear the word of the Lord all you people, and clap your hands in joy! The King is in residence in his holy tabernacle! A tabernacle not made by the hand of men, but by the hand of God!

The Wrap

The battle place was revealed when this battle began, when truth was corrupt in the first century as many deceivers crept in unaware. The battle place is in your mind, every mind there ever was or will ever be. This battle is called "Truth VS the lies of the devil". This battle is worldwide, within Islam, Judaism, etc. Satan even had his seat in a Christian assembly in Asia Minor, the assembly at Pergamos. His intention was to corrupt the truth before the child could grow, before Christianity could grow in truth.

As I see it, this battle against the holy city after the thousand years speaks of a spiritual battle of the lies of Satan against Christ and his seed. I see the thousand years as beginning in the first century, after the temple of the religious system of the Jews was put off by 70 AD, after all those blessed workers of Christ were killed, for a time as many as 3000 were killed a day under the reign of Nero, all Apostles being killed before 70 AD, (except for John who remained), murdered for the gospel sake, they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years, a perfect time.

While I do not think of the "thousand years" as literally 1000 years, that God set up a timer saying "I have set the 1000 year timer!", as in over by the year 1070 exactly to the minute, I do believe it to be a perfect time, as a thousand years with God can be as a day, or a day as a thousand years. The lies of Satan are always poison. They were within the leaven of the Pharisees, workers of the temple in Jerusalem. They compassed the camp of the saints all around. Gog and Magog were people deceived by Satan. The saints were victorious, God delivering a crushing blow to the lies that tried to prevent the child from growing, Christianity. We is a man now, glory to God. As the religious system of the Jews was at war with Christ and his seed, many years passed as Paul and others were out preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God to every creature under heaven, and after the temple was made desolate by 70 AD, Judaism had suffered a crushing blow, and a short time after that the works and deeds of the whole house were cleansed, put away, that Gog and Magog are burned in God's consuming fire. That is to say the lies of the devil suffered a crushing blow.

As I see it, Satan was bound after the temple of the religious system was officially put off, by 70 AD, released a perfect time later, and after the crushing defeat of those who were deceived by him, Gog and Magog, they were deceived by Satan, Satan was then cast into the lake of fire to remain forever. The dead are raised. The judgment seat is. New Jerusalem is. It was as if everything was made new. A new heaven, the kingdom of God, and a new earth, redemption for those upon it. The high and proud mountains were thrown down and the low and humble valleys were lifted up. The mountains have fallen in the sea, all the valleys have swallowed up the sea and were lifted up as the waters dried, and the sea of wickedness is no more.

Jesus, born of a woman as to be born of the law, and being without sin he fulfilled the law, lifting the curse of death up from the earth, as it was said anyone who broke a single law was cursed. He is life. We are free from the curse of the law, but we are not free to break the law. Blessed are they that do his commandments.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Sure, outside the city lives all that, it is a zoo out there, but in his mercy, life goes on. In his grace, there is liberty and justice for all. Remember, any one "beast of the field" may drink of the fountain of living waters that do give life to all, that is, any one person may receive salvation from God. It is the grace of God. It is the circle of life.

See the circle of life. See "Seven Questions".

As good will and good intentions for all people continue to span the earth, life on earth gets better, and the people who mean well, want to do good and help all people, will continue to prosper, and these nations are the nations that shall continue to rise and crush the oppressors. As it was, so it is, life goes on. Glory to God.
